This year we are helping Dean Asher, Florida Realtors 2013 President raise money for the Military Warriors Support Foundation…. a program to help our Veterans in need. It’s not required, and we won’t publish who donates or who doesn’t, but your heart knows this is a “A Good Thing.” And if you do, you get a t-shirt… there are benefits to being good like that.

The Military Warriors Support Foundation:

Gen. Leroy Sisco, a retired 3-star general and the organization’s CEO, founded the Military Warriors Support Foundation in 2007. The nonprofit foundation has numerous programs to assist veterans. One of the program, the Homes 4 Wounded Heroes program, awards mortgage-free homes to wounded heroes injured during combat in Iraq and Afghanistan. These heroes have severe and/or unique circumstances due to their injuries received during active duty. In addition to the home, the families receive three years of family and financial mentoring so they may learn the skills necessary to become happy and successful homeowners. This program not only changes the lives of the hero and their family, but it also changes the lives of the generations that follow.

Each applicant must be a combat-wounded veteran (Purple Heart recipient preferred) or unmarried Gold Star Spouse of OEF/OIF. He or she must be honorably retired or separated from the military and may not currently have a mortgage.
